Our goal is to promote the health and well being of all the children at ACC in partnership with our families. We agree with the Let’sMove! initiative championed by First Lady Michelle Obama in 2010. The initiative focuses on five major strategies to promote general health and reduce risk factors for obesity in early childhood: increasing physical activity, limiting screen time, serving healthy foods, reducing sugary beverages and promoting breastfeeding of infants.
We also want to prevent the spread of illness as much as possible. We practice good hygiene with children and adults so that we can limit the spread of infectious illnesses. Handwashing and sanitizing are the two most effective way to do this. However, children are just developing their immunities, and colds and coughs and other illnesses do occur. In the event of any contagious illness, there are certain public health regulations we must abide by in terms of exclusion from the program and return to school. We can administer medications as prescribed by the doctor and certain over the counter medications with the parents signed consent.
