Welcome to Altadena Christian Children's Center!

In 1982 Altadena Baptist Church decided to convert a little-used area of its property into a child care center. The congregation’s goal was to meet an important community need that would help support families. They were particularly interested in making quality child care accessible to families from a wide range of socio-economic backgrounds. Licensed for 42 children, the Center grew through the next decade as a ministry of the church. But, in 1992 both the Center and the church saw the wisdom of forming a separate, nonprofit agency.

During the 1990’s the programs offered by the Center expanded from the original Preschool for 2 to 5 year olds. The Center involved itself in many collaborative ventures with other community agencies addressing the needs of children and families. Before and After School care was developed first at Altadena Elementary School, and later at Noyes Elementary School in partnership with the Pasadena Unified School District. Summer Wonder Land emerged as the special summer break version of the school age program.

The most recent addition to ACCC’s family of programs is the Infant/Toddler Program which opened in November 2002 in partnership with Early Head Start of the Center for Community and Family Services. ACCC currently serves a total of over 100 children and families!

Altadena Christian Children's Center is still expanding its vision. The Board of Directors, staff, and families feel that there is “something special” about ACCC that should be shared with more families in the Pasadena/Altadena area.
